One year of “Skills for Success” with the EU

September 2021 marks a year since the EU supported “Skills for Success” project was
launched as the part of the EU’s Skills4Jobs Programme, implemented by the Save the Children
International in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS)Youth Agency of Georgia and Youth
Workers’ Association of Georgia. As a result of one year’s work, the project has established the Youth
Opportunities Online platform, made significant strides to create the entrepreneurial labs, selected and
trained 20 Youth Workers and 12 Young Entrepreneurship Ambassadors as well as developed a Training
manual – “Embracing the Future of Youth Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment in Georgia”.

As Programme Manager for Youth, Culture and Digital Society at the Delegation of the European Union
to Georgia, Nino Samvelidze stated: “The project significantly contributed to strengthening cooperation
between government institutions and youth organizations, it further expanded the space for constructive
dialogue and promoted young entrepreneurship practices across the country. The online platform is
another good example of the efficiency of joint work and efforts.”

For the first time in Georgia, Youth Opportunities Online Platform – youthplatorm.gov.ge has been
launched. Platform connects youth with the state institutions, nongovernmental and international
organisations providing education, training or employment opportunities based on a single-window
principle. The platform is ran and operated by the Youth Agency, a governmental entity under the
auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia.

Throughout the year, 20 mobile youth workers (MYW) from10 municipalities of Georgia have received
training to support the institutionalization of the Mobile Youth Worker’s Profession.

In the coming years, MYWs will work with NEET youth to provide needs-based training, career
counseling, as well as share information regarding the existing opportunities. Steps have been taken to
create 4 Entrepreneurship Labs in the regions, where NEET Youth trained on entrepreneurship will be
able to initiate business ideas with the support of mentors. Young successful entrepreneurs have been
selected from the regions of Georgia for the “Youth Entrepreneurial Ambassadors Program”. A workshop
was conducted for YEAs to develop their skills in leadership, effective communication and teamwork as
well as to raise their awareness on advocacy and lobbying strategies.

The three-year project that started in September 2020 aims at institutionalization of Youth Work as a
profession, developing entrepreneurial and employability skills among NEET (Not in Education,
Employment, or Training) Youth, fostering their access to non-formal education opportunities, and
supporting their participation in decision making process.

The Director of Youth Agency, Revaz Charkviani highlighted: “The government officials will particularly
benefit from improved resources to enable informed decision-making which will enhance service
provision for youth”. Activities will be implemented in four regions of Georgia (Guria, Racha
Lechkhumi, Shida Kartli, and Kakheti) and Tbilisi.
