The EU and GITA Unveil Tech Boost Project for Georgia

To facilitate the growth of the technology sector in Georgia, Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency organised the launch event for the EU-funded new project “Do IT with the EU”. The event’s purpose was to unveil a new project backed by the European Union and provide essential intellectual resources to 500 IT specialists and international IT firms in the realm of technological innovations and global IT sector standards to enhance Georgia’s international cooperation.

Levan Davitashvili, Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Pawel Herczynski, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, opened the event and delivered a welcome speech.

“The “Do IT with the EU” project holds significant importance for Georgia’s technological development. Its primary objective, as showcased in this opening event, is to promote innovation and foster job growth within the country actively”, – emphasised Pawel Herczynski, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia.

“Such innovative events contribute not only to the dissemination of information about the project but also to the growth of the involvement of international IT companies and relevant organisations in Georgia’s digitisation journey”, – highlighted Levan Davitashvili, Vice Prime Minister of Georgia; Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The event provided an avenue to showcase the latest developments and job opportunities within the tech sector. The guests had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the announced programmes, the representatives of the international IT company, and the vacant positions. The event was attended by successful startups and partner organisations associated with GITA.

The event was attended by approximately 500 local IT specialists, representatives from international IT companies, including EPAM and DataArt, and delegates from the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and other government agencies.

Under the “Do IT with the EU” project, with the backing of the European Union, over 1,300 Georgian citizens will receive training in some of the world’s most sought-after and well-paid professions, including Cyber Security, Data Science, Cloud Services, Project Management, etc. More than 1,000 IT specialists will be allowed to obtain an international certificate, and 300 IT professionals will be given unique employment prospects, making them competitive in the global tech market.

The “Do IT with the EU” project is funded by the European Union and implemented by Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency; it aims to transform Georgia’s IT sector by integrating global standards, fostering skill development, and creating exceptional employment opportunities for Georgian citizens.
