The European Union Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, visited the Guria region to reaffirm the EU’s strong support for communities across the country. The two-day visit highlighted the EU’s commitment to inclusive regional development and to engaging with local civil society, youth, and businesses.
Ambassador Herczynski met with a broad range of local partners benefiting from EU-funded programmes, including the Student Youth Council, representatives from local civil society organisations and entrepreneurs.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be here in the beautiful Guria region. The projects we are visiting, and the many others like them, are a testament to what Georgia and the EU have achieved together,” said Ambassador Herczynski. “We are not a distant partner; we are here with you, supporting every region, every community, and every citizen on this path towards a more prosperous future within the European family.”
On the first day of the visit, the Ambassador was in Ozurgeti, where he officially opened the “Bookshelf – Europe Edition” at Hotel SAM, an initiative designed to foster educational and cultural exchange. He also held meetings at Progress House with the Student Youth Council and representatives from local civil society organisations.
On the second day, Ambassador Herczynski attended the opening of a new EU-funded Wi-Fi Hotspot in the village of Tkhinvali. He also met with local journalists and media outlets at Ivlita’s Library, before concluding the visit with a working lunch and a meeting with local businesses and representatives from the “Green Guria/CENN” and “Skills4Jobs” projects.
