On 16 April the Government of Georgia adopted the Electricity Market Model Concept.
The electricity market design has been developed in close cooperation with the Energy Community Secretariat. It envisages the gradual establishment of bilateral and organised electricity markets in the country, and the measures during the transition period before full market opening.
Georgia has been implementing electricity by-laws according to schedule even during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of 2019, the country adopted an energy law compliant with the Third Energy Package, which was the first step towards shaping the electricity market design concept.
