Europe Day in Kakheti
Europe Day 2026 arrived in Kakheti, bringing the European Union closer to local communities through a celebration of partnership, shared values, and the strong connections between Georgia and Europe.
Hosted at Mosmieri Winery in Kisiskhevi under the theme “My Europe. My Future.” the celebration brought together the EU Delegation, EU Member States, EU-funded projects, partners and local communities. Through culture, food, dialogue and interactive experiences, visitors discovered how EU–Georgia cooperation creates opportunities and supports people across the country.
At the opening of the event, EU Ambassador Paweł Herczyński said: “The EU resembles Georgian polyphonic music. 27 independent states create a strong unity, just as individual voices create a unified melody. We wish the Georgian voice to ring out clearly and loudly within Europe’s polyphony. The friendship between the EU and Georgia starts since the very beginning of Georgia’s independence. While recent anti-European rhetoric severely damages this close bond, it cannot alter it; The history built over decades can not be rewritten or forgotten in just few years. We will continue supporting Georgia’s democratic and European future.”
After the opening, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczyński announced new projects totaling €38 million for 2026 to continue supporting Georgia’s citizens, families, and communities across the country. Building on three decades of partnership, the “EUwithYou” projects will expand education and employment opportunities, support family farms and improve food quality, promote development in small cities and villages, increase economic opportunities for women, support young people and vulnerable citizens, including in Abkhazia, and bolster environmental protection. This new assistance reaffirms the EU’s commitment to the people of Georgia and Georgia’s European path.
At Mosmieri Winery, the Team Europe space brought together the EU Member States presenting their cultures, traditions and cuisines, while the European-Georgian Supra combined European culinary traditions with Kakhetian hospitality. EU-funded projects and beneficiaries showcased tangible examples of EU’s support to agriculture, youth, entrepreneurship, innovation, environmental protection, culture and regional development.
Throughout the day, the visitors took part in wine and photography masterclasses, VR experiences, cycling, Green Corner activities, the EU Knowledge Wheel, children’s theatre and cultural performances. The celebration then continued with activities showcasing EU-supported entrepreneurs and the day concluded with an open-air concert by Gamouvali Mdgomareoba.
Europe Day Kakheti carried a simple message: Europe is about people, shared values, connections and opportunities.
Europe Day
Celebrated annually on 9 May, Europe Day marks the Schuman Declaration of 1950, which laid the foundations of today’s European Union—a project built on peace, solidarity, cooperation and shared prosperity. The EU Delegation to Georgia celebrates Europe Day together with communities across the country, bringing Europe closer to people and taking the celebration to different regions of Georgia. In 2026, following the main Europe Day celebration in Tbilisi, Europe Day travelled to Batumi, and this time comes to Kakheti, bringing together local communities, Team Europe, EU-funded projects and partners.
