CENN announces the EU-supported student competition on climate change

CENN, with the support of the European Union and in partnership with Ilia State University, within the framework of the “Georgian Climate Action Program (GEO-CAP)” project, announces a student competition on the preparation of scientific articles on the topic of climate change.

The purpose of the competition is to raise awareness of climate change issues in the field of academia and to encourage scientific orientation among students. Articles created by participants should cover the consequences and risks caused by global climate change in relation to Georgia and be based on desk research, review and analysis of recent articles on climate change.

  • Climate change and adaptation
  • Climate change and mitigation
  • Climate change and natural disasters
  • Climate change and biodiversity
  • Climate change and water resources
  • Climate change and climate-smart agriculture
  • Climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energies

Those wishing to participate have to register and upload the article by April 30, 2023, at the following link: https://forms.gle/jrzCQtjYLspF4Ssj7

Stages of evaluation of participants:

  1. In the first stage, the articles will be checked for the presence of plagiarism in the text and compliance with the technical requirements. Those articles that are not found to be plagiarized and comply with the technical requirements will go to the next stage;
  2. In the second stage, the articles will be evaluated by a competent jury consisting of representatives of CENN and Ilia State University. The author of all the articles passed to the second stage will be given a certificate of participation;
  3. In the third stage, the 10 highest-scoring articles will be presented, and the winning 3 authors will be awarded (1st place – 1500 GEL, 2nd place – 1200 GEL, 3rd place – 1000 GEL).

The competition is organized within the EU-funded project “Georgia Climate Action Project (GEO-CAP), which is being implemented by CENN with its partner organizations KRDF, ACU, YPU, and RLS-ADA. The project’s focal regions in Georgia: Guria, Imereti, Kakheti,  Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
