Georgia’s Reforms Associates (GRASS) started a vaccination campaign and has already vaccinated 85 citizens in 5 villages of the Kvemo Kartli region.

With the support of the European Union, Georgia’s Reforms Associates (GRASS) started a vaccination campaign. On November 18, GRASS deployed mobile vaccination clinics in the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian language speaking settlements in Dmanisi and Marneuli municipalities of the Kvemo Kartli region, as a result of which 85 people have been vaccinated.

GRASS has trained 10 representatives of the local youth, informing them about the COVID-19 vaccination process and the vaccine-related disinformation. Conducting door-to-door canvassing on November 15, 16, and 17, young volunteers delivered accurate information about the vaccination to the citizens living in the villages of Shaumiani (also, IDP settlement “Garadok”), Akhkula and Khikhani in the Marneuli Municipality, and Amamlo and Bezaklo in the Dmanisi Municipality.

After conducting the door-to-door canvassing, on November 18, GRASS, National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia deployed mobile vaccination clinics in the afore mentioned villages.

According to GRASS Project Manager, Mariam Tsitsikashvili, “GRASS has even more actively engaged in supporting the vaccination process and on November 18, as a result of the work undertaken by our active volunteers as well as our partnership with the relevant agencies, 85 people living in 5 different villages of the Kvemo Kartli region got their jabs. This result gives us additional motivation to talk with our compatriots and help them make a choice for life and get vaccinated.”

“COVID-19: Civil Society Resilience and Sustainability” is a 48-month project funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by ERIM (formerly IREX Europe) and the Human Rights House Tbilisi (HRHT). The main goal of the project is to promote the resilience and sustainability of civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries, which will enable them to mitigate the direct and long-term impact of COVID-19.
