Strengthening Rural Development Models in Georgia
Project Description
The project aims at continuation of promotion a bottom-up, community-led approach to local development and further extend support to the existing Local Action Groups in the municipalities of Borbomi, Kazbegi and Lagodekhi. The project will also support the disbursal of development sub-grants that will further support the realisation of the Local Development Strategies (LDS) that have been developed during the previous phase. In this way the action aims to improve the quality of life of the rural populations within the project target municipalities.
The project will work to create a network of all LAGs developed under the ENPARD programme, termed as the Georgian Association of LAGs (GALAG). This network will be a conduit for information exchange and learning across the country and will act as an advocate for community-led local development with key state and non-state actors.

Specific Objective
To improve the quality of life of the rural population in Borjomi, Kazbegi and Lagodekhi through the continuation of a community-led local development approach
Expected Results
1. LAG has been established with 29 current members from all key sectors (governance, civil society, culture, sport, agriculture, tourism, education, private businesses and environmental protection) in Borjomi.
2. LDS created in a participatory manner that reflects issues and priorities of all communities within Borjomi
3. Awareness has been raised on a community-led local development (LEADER) approach and community members ability has been improved to design and produce strong sub-project applications
4. 28 sub-projects have been funded and effectively implemented , hence 59 jobs created in Borjomi municipality
5. Borjomi LAG membership capacity has been developed through the series of trainings and able to conduct their roles in rural development within Borjomi municipality.
6. Georgian Association of LAGs (GALAG) statute drafted and agreed among implementing organizations and LAGs. GALAG is a platform to influence RD policy at national level
