Accelerated Rural Development in Imereti & Kakheti
Project Description
The fourth phase of the EU Neighborhood—ENPARD program, Accelerated Rural Development in Kakheti and Imereti, aims to promote rural and agricultural development in the target areas. The project's objective is to maximize the use of local resource potential and to promote further independent development. The target group of the program: immigrants, representatives of minorities, people affected by the conflict, women, and young people.
Specific Objective
The project is structured around the following objectives:
1. To identify the needs of the local communities in target regions with a needs assessment tool and establish a flexible coordination mechanism to support collaboration and communication among project stakeholders.
2. To promote of development and/or enhancement of tourism and agricultural value chains, promotion of social and technological innovations using EU’s LEADER Approach;
3. To improve of skills and competencies through vocational education training courses for target groups in rural areas and to provision of long-term sustainable models for human resources development and engagement in target regions;
4. To strengthen rural development in regions by creating an online network for target groups and awareness raising and advocacy campaigns.

Expected Results
1. Newly developed coordination mechanism allows for improved information management and communication among local communities and local authorities, agro-markets, tourism representatives.
2. A pilot project is developed by using the methodology of transfer of the best practice that was used in similar circumstances in Slovenia with the support programmes and sufficient financing that are provided for the start-up and scaling-up phases.
3. Over 60 vocational educational trainings are prepared and conducted in 2 regions and over 50 small grants are issued. The estimated budget of per grants vary between 5000 EUR-50 000 EUR. Up to 600 people are trained and ready to start their business.
