Internet Access Flagship: Rural Empowerment through Digital Inclusion (REDI)

Project Description
REDI - Rural Empowerment through Digital Inclusion is a project financed by the European Union and Polish Aid. The initiative aims to bridge the digital gap between rural and urban areas in Georgia through improved connectivity infrastructure and enhanced digital literacy. The project targets regions, deploying Internet access points in public spaces and establishing Digital Rural Hubs for skill development.
Specific Objective
- To improve internet connectivity and digital infrastructure in rural areas of Georgia, particularly in the regions of Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Imereti and Kakheti.
- To increase the use of internet and digital services by local businesses and target communities, including the most vulnerable in the target regions.
- To improve practices on replication of connectivity infrastructure and measuring the use of new technologies in the remaining regions of Georgia.
Expected Results
- Increased access to Wi-Fi in the rural areas of the target regions including highland villages and public spaces.
- Strengthened capacities of target communities in relation to digital infrastructure and community internet.
- Enhanced knowledge and capacities of SMEs and target communities in the use of internet and relevant digital services including e-Governance services.
- Increased awareness of the most vulnerable groups (youth, women, elderly, minorities, unemployed, etc.) on opportunities of digital engagement in political and economic life.
- Strengthened capacities of target stakeholders on expansion of connectivity infrastructure and measuring the use of new technologies in the regions of Georgia that are not covered within the project.
