Skills Development and Matching for Labour Market Needs - Budget Support Contract
Project Description
Georgia is a small country with 57% of the population living in urban areas. Despite the economic growth during the past decade, the Georgian labour market features several structural problems. The need for better matching of skills with labour market demands, as well as for a coherent and better quality skills development system, are identified as key bottlenecks hindering Georgia’s competitiveness and economic development. The Skills Development and Matching for Labour Market Needs Programme aims to enhance Georgia's economic resilience and sustainable growth through human capital development and skills matching.
Specific Objective
The specific objective of the programme is to improve the employability of women and men in the selected regions (Tbilisi, Adjara, Imereti, Kakheti, Kvemo-Kartli, Samegrelo and Shida-Kartli, Guria and Racha-Lechkumi).
Expected Results
Relevant skills-matching services accessible in the selected regions
-Operational skills anticipation system based on regular national/sectoral and regional skills needs analyses
-Increased availability of career guidance and counselling, job intermediation and labour market integration services
Relevant lifelong learning skills provision accessible in the selected regions with a focus on youth
- Flexible skills development system including both private and public provision based on the needs of learners and employers
-Increased VET participation, in particular for the youth age group of 15-24
Entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurship training opportunities accessible in the selected regions
- Entrepreneurship key competence is an integral part of curricula and teacher training, including practical entrepreneurial experience, in upper secondary general education and VET
-Entrepreneurship training modules available for students and adult learners in higher education and VET institutions
