Participatory Charrette for Tourism Development Strategy of Guria

Project Description
The project aims to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth of the Gurian tourism sector by raising awareness and attractiveness of the region through concerted cooperation between local authorities, local society and national agencies. The project examines and evaluates tourism potential of the region, and develops strategic action plans for sustainable development of tourist sites and business sector. Additionally, it supports small-scale activities at the regional and national level. The project also encourages effective cooperation between local government and non-government actors. These activities are expected to contribute to sustainable tourism development in the region of Guria.
Specific Objective
To achieve sustainable and inclusive growth of the Gurian tourism sector by raising the awareness and attractiveness of the region through concerted cooperation between Local Authorities, the local society, and national agencies
Expected Results
The project is expected to:
- Establish cooperation and effective relations between local governance and non-state actors;
- Study tourism potential of Guria and provide assessment;
- Develop strategy and action plan
- Support small-scale civic activities and lobby development of certain tourist infrastructure and economic projects on regional and national level
