The training center of Akhalkalaki LAG launches online courses
Amid Covid-19 lock-down, the training center of the EU-supported Akhalkalaki LAG has launched an online vocational training courses to continue helping ethnic Armenian population improve the state language skills. The first online teaching session was initiated on 14th of April to mark the Georgian Language Day. The initiative now allows 30 students to continue Georgian language courses remotely.
“I would like to congratulate you on the Georgian Language Day. Today, symbolically, Georgian language lessons are resumed online, which I think is a unique oasis during the Coronavirus pandemic. Our friendship is resistant to all viruses, congratulations and best of luck to you all!” – addressed the course participants Giorgi Kekelidze, Head of National Library in his video message.
“This online course will help our youth to master the state language and better integrate in the society. This is what our region needs today,” said Jana Khachaturyan, Doctor of Philological Sciences.
In response to the pandemic crisis, the Training Center is also developing online tests in different school subjects, such as math, biology, chemistry, geography, history, literature and art. All tests will be prepared in line with the national curriculum standards and will help local ethnic minority pupils at all grades to improve their knowledge and skills. The tests will be integrated into popular education web platform www.izrune.ge and will be accessible for all pupils in the municipality as of April 26.
The Training Center was established by EU-supported Akhalkalaki LAG within the ENPARD project “Promoting a New Rural Development Approach in Akhalkalaki”. The project is implemented by the Department of Rural Developmentand Vocational Education of GIPA. The project partners are Mercy Corps, ELVA and West Cork Development Partnership.
