Announcement – Packaging technology and circular economy

The European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with PMAG Packaging Cluster are inviting  packaging companies to participate in the workshop on packaging technology and circular economy.

The four day online training course is provided by the World Packaging Organization (WPO) allowing trainees to gain knowledge on packaging sector and technologies, circular economy and environmental sustainability, as well as quickly transform this knowledge into their daily activities.

The course will take place on October 5-8, 2021 via the Zoom online meeting platform:

5October (10:00-13:00):

  • Introduction to WPO
  • Packaging materials – Paper / Board
  • Packaging materials – Corrugated Packaging
  • Packaging materials – Plastics (Rigid and Flexibles)

6 October (10:00-13:00):

  • Packaging materials – Metal Packaging
  • Packaging materials –  Glass
  • Marketing, Brand Creation and Product Life Cycles

7 October  (10:00-13:00):

  • General Packaging Principles
  • Circular Economy and Environmental Sustainability
  • Food Safety
  • Quality Management and Lean Six Sigma

8October (10:00-13:00):

  • Modern Packaging
  • Tamper-evident Packaging
  • Global Packaging Trends and Statistics
  • The future of Packaging

The initiative is part of a broader EU-funded programme “The Innovative Action for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia” implemented by the UN agencies in cooperation with private companies and business associations. Drawing on an overall budget of up to USD 6 million, the initiative aims to assist Georgian entrepreneurs, improve the legal environment and access to finance, and strengthen ties with the EU.
