For some reason, everyone thinks that a beekeeper should be a man, but that’s not the case here. Women from Akhmeta started a business with 30 beehives, since then they have quadrupled this number and today, they are producing honey, propolis, wax, bee milk, bee pollen and flower pollen. EU and FAO help those women beekeepers get access to information, new technologies and markets to expend their production. The women are planning to establish an organization of local honey producers in the future and inspire and motivate other local women as well.
