15/10/2023

The Europe edition of the popular game “What? Where? When?” was held in the Kakheti Region, with over 100 teams participating simultaneously. The questions for the game were tailored to enable youth to learn more about the European Union in a fun and interactive manner.

Nicholas Cendrowicz, the Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, attended the tournament in Telavi. He underlined importance of similar initiatives:  “The European Union is deeply committed to supporting and enlightening our youth, as they are the pillars of our future. Through initiatives like the European edition of ‘What? Where? When?’, we aim to blend learning with fun, ensuring that our young minds are both engaged and informed. Over the next year, we are excited to nurture this spirit of curiosity and knowledge in a delightful yet meaningful manner.”

The game series “What? Where? When?” were hosted by Giorgi Mosidze, the author and host of the Georgian Club, as well as other club members.

Throughout the year, the game will be played not only in Kakheti but also in all 63 municipalities of Georgia, including the 11 districts of Tbilisi and the juvenile colony. School students from grades 8-12 are eligible to participate, offering them a chance to enjoy while gaining valuable insights into the EU and Europe overall.

The marathon was successfully launched in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in June 2023, where over 100 teams began the game simultaneously. In alignment with Europe Day activities, this quiz game marathon is designed to make learning about the European Union engaging and interactive. As mentioned above, the marathon will progress across all regions of Georgia, culminating in Tbilisi in Spring 2024.
