09/10/2026

On 2 October, the Caucasus University in Tbilisi, Georgia, hosted the final conference for the EU-funded Jean Monnet module on media literacy education (EUMLGE).

The project was authored and coordinated by Dr. George Jologua, Associate Professor at Caucasus University.

Through this project, 314 teachers from 74 schools in Georgia received European-quality training in media literacy. Also, 161 students from 12 schools took part in the summer school ‘EU VS. Disinformation’.

“Media literacy is a key competence for informed citizenship, critical thinking, and informed decisions,” said Lenka Vitkova, representative of the EU Delegation to Georgia. “The dangers of today’s information environment are many – from AI-generated content blurring the boundaries between real and imaginary to purposeful disinformation and manipulated content.”

The media literacy course was permanently added to Caucasus University curriculum and has already been completed by 108 students.
