The project strives to contribute to rehabilitation and re-socialization of inmates, former inmates and probationers in Georgia and to allow them “step by step” building a better future for themselves and their families.

The primary focus is to enhance opportunities for vocational education of former inmates and probationers in the regions of Shida Kartli, Imereti and Same-grelo by fostering stronger cooperation between colleges, state probationary systems and NGOs.
To reduce risk of recidivism, the VET trainings will be accompanied as a secondary focus by complementary aspects of re-socialization (psycho-social support, job counseling, mentoring, small granting).

In addition, the project aims to enhance vocational education, training and employment possibilities in semi-open prisons as a means of pre-release preparation for reintegration and re-socialization by piloting targeted practical trainings in prison #15 in Ksani, Mtskheta-Mtianeti.

Objective of the project is to enhance opportunities for vocational education and income generation of former inmates and probationers in Shida Kartli, Imereti and Samegrelo through strengthened linkages between colleges, training centers, penitentiary and probationary systems and CSOs.

It also enhances vocational education, training and employment possibilities in semi-open prisons as a means of pre-release preparation for reintegration and re-socialization by introducing targeted practical trainings in especially established workshop settings.

Demand-oriented capacities and professional skills of min. 400 former inmates and probationers are improved through VET at a specialized Integration Center in Shida Kartli and public colleges in Samegrelo and Imereti and min. 150 graduates have successfully re-integrated into society and/or the job-market by being employed and/or having started micro-businesses with the help of complementary integration services such as job counselling, psycho-social coaching, mentoring and a graduates’ material support programmes. Min. 70 inmates increased their professional capacities by benefitting from in-prison practical training courses developed based on international practice.
