Civil Society for Resilient and Safer Communities (CiSSCo)

Project Description
The project is focused at building capacity of relevant state- and non-state actors as well as addiction and mental health (MH) multidisciplinary services, assuring access to quality services for children, adolescents, youth and adults in need; promoting rights-based policies, strategies and practices for people who use drugs (PWUD) with the special focus on women; empowering disadvantaged communities and maintaining advocacy and the effective dialogue between relevant stakeholders.
Specific Objective
The proposed action aims to fostering safety and resilience of communities through contributing to successful implementation of Drug National Strategy and Juvenile Justice (JJ) reform in Georgia. The action targets the following specific objectives:
- Strengthening institutional mechanisms and local capacity for crime prevention in Georgia
- Strengthening institutional mechanisms and local capacity for drug use prevention in Georgia
- Upgrading capacity for mental health and psycho social care of people who use drugs, namely of State, NGO and private-run Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) programs in Georgia
- Developing institutional mechanisms for quality assurance in the field of drug and crime prevention
- Advocacy activities to support implementation and sustainability of all the above-described activities
Expected Results
1. Strengthened national capacity & institutional mechanisms and filled in service gaps in the system of
crime and drug prevention among children, adolescents and youth, resulting in their healthier and
pro-social developmental trajectories.
2. Assured rights-based and needs-tailored policies, strategies and treatment & psychosocial rehabilitation services for people who use drugs (PWUD) with the special focus on women, resulting in their increased life quality and social integration.
3. Empowered disadvantaged communities with healthy lifestyle and community safety promotion strategies and assured effective dialogue between community stakeholders, resulting in increased community cohesion, resilience and safety.
