In light of Georgia's ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against women and Domestic Violence (The Istanbul Convention), the EU is supporting the Government of Georgia in implementing its formal commitments undertaken under the Istanbul Convention.

This project assists Georgia's executive, legislative and judicial authorities in advancing gender mainstreaming into public administration. It provides enduring, pertinent and vigorous technical assistance to the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in Georgia to advance gender sensitivities in national policies, human resources' management in public administration and dialogue between main policy makers and civil society actors, alongside strengthening respective institutional capacities of main stakeholders.

This is done through increased capacities and knowledge of public servants to mainstream gender into policy making at national and local levels, carrying out gender analysis of national and local budgetary processes, advancing the dialogue and advocacy of gender advocates, civil society organisations and academia with the Georgia's Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality in line with Georgia's international and domestic Human Rights legal framework.

To assist Georgia's executive, legislative and judicial authorities in advancing Gender mainstreaming into public administration

- Increased institutional capacity of Georgia's Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality;
- Improved capacity of public servants in legislative, executive and judicial bodies, to mainstream gender into policy making at national and local levels;
- Increased capacities and knowledge of public finance officials in legislative, executive and judicial bodies to include Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) into planning and budgeting processes at national and local levels;
- Strengthened sex disaggregated data collection;
- Strengthened capacities of academia, media and CSOs to analyse programmes and budgets from gender perspective and engage in evidence-based advocacy;
- Improved monitoring capacities of academia, media and CSOs of cases of gender based discrimination;
- Improved reporting and shadow reporting vis-à-vis Georgia's international commitments on Gender Equality;
- Enhanced social inclusion and political participation of women;
- Implementation of and monitoring over the UN Security Council resolutions on Women, Peace and Security strengthened;
Improved communication.
