Further Strengthening of the Georgian Statistical System

Project Description
The EU-funded Twinning project focuses on strengthening Georgia's National Statistical System With a budget of €1.2 million and aims to enhance Georgia's capacity in official statistics production and utilization.
Specific Objective
The specific objective of the project is to assist the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) in enhancing methodological soundness in standards and classifications, developing demographic and population Statistics as well as strengthening the capacity of government institutions for the production and use of official statistics.
Expected Results
Component 1
Enhanced Statistical Processes: Statistical processes aligned with the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM).
Introduction of EU NUTS Classification: Implementing EU NUTS classification to improve regional statistics.
Adoption of DESAP: Systematic quality assessments using the DESAP self-assessment tool.
Component 2
Population Register Strategy: A developed and actionable plan for establishing a comprehensive population register.
Population Projections: Established methodology and capability for producing short and long-term population projections at regional and municipal levels.
Component 3
Increased Use of Administrative Data: More administrative data sources identified and utilized for official statistics.
Enhanced Data Usage for Decision-Making: Improved capacity of government institutions to use statistical data in policy development, monitoring, and evaluation.
