Research competition in Georgia on the topic ‘Academic freedom and higher education – local and international challenges’

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has announced a call for academic papers in Georgia on the topic of ‘Academic freedom and higher education – local and international challenges’. The call was launched as part of the joint EU-UN project ‘Human Rights for All’. 

The call is open to master’s students and Master’s degree holders; PhD candidates and PhD holders, and individuals with equivalent academic qualifications.

Papers may be submitted by representatives of any academic field, including Law, Political Science, Journalism, Social Sciences; Education Studies, Philosophy, Ethics and others.

The deadline for registration and abstract submission is 3 June 2026. The academic paper should be submitted by 25 August 2026.

Human Rights for All’ is a joint initiative of the European Union and the United Nations, implemented by UNDP and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Launched in 2016, the programme aims to strengthen human rights protections, address key challenges, and support Georgia’s European integration fostering a more just, inclusive, and rights-based society in Georgia.

Now in its third phase (November 2024 – March 2028), the initiative further advances human rights across all areas of life building on past achievements and lessons learned.
