ევროკავშირის ელჩი საქართველოში, პაველ ჰერჩინსკი ეწვია ახალციხეს იმისთვის, რომ საქართველოს თემების მიმართ ევროკავშირის მტკიცე მხარდაჭერა კვლავ დაადასტუროს. ვიზიტმა ხაზი გაუსვა ყველა მოქალაქისთვის, განსაკუთრებით საქართველოს მრავალფეროვანი ეთნიკური უმცირესობებისთვის ინკლუზიური რეგიონული განვითარების, სამოქალაქო ჩართულობისა და თანაბარი შესაძლებლობებისადმი ევროკავშირის ერთგულებას.
ელჩი პაველ ჰერჩინსკი შეხვდა სხვადასხვა ადგილობრივ პარტნიორებს, ვინც ევროკავშირის მიერ დაფინანსებული პროგრამებით სარგებლობს, მათ შორის, სამოქალაქო საზოგადოების ორგანიზაციებს, ახალგაზრდებს, ქალ მეწარმეებს, ხანდაზმულ მოქალაქეებს, ეთნიკური უმცირესობების წარმომადგენლებს და სპეციალური საჭიროებების მქონე პირებს.

„ევროკავშირი აქ არის იმისათვის, რომ მხარი დაუჭიროს თემებს საქართველოს ყველა კუთხეში“, – განაცხადა ელჩმა პაველ ჰერჩინსკიმ. „ახალგაზრდებით დაწყებული და ხანდაზმულებით დასრულებული, მეწარმეებისა და სამოქალაქო საზოგადოების ჩათვლით, ჩვენი მიზანია ხელი შევუწყოთ ინკლუზიურობას და შესაძლებლობებს ყველასთვის. ევროკავშირი არ არის შორეული პარტნიორი – ჩვენ საქართველოს მოსახლეობის მხარდამხარ ვმუშაობთ.“
ვიზიტის პირველ დღეს, ევროკავშირის ელჩი ხანდაზმულთა დღის ცენტრს ეწვია. ასეთი ცენტრი სამცხე-ჯავახეთში პირველია, ის ევროკავშირის მიერ არის თანადაფინანსებული და აქ ხანდაზმული მოქალაქეები სოციალური მომსახურებით უსაფრთხო, ამისთვის მოწყობილ სივრცეში სარგებლობენ. ელჩი ასევე შეხვდა ადგილობრივ მეწარმეებს, რომლებმაც თავიანთი ბიზნესი ევროკავშირის მხარდაჭერით გააფართოვეს, მათ შორის მოინახულა საცხობი, რომელსაც სომეხი ქალბატონი უძღვება და მეფუტკრეობის მოდერნიზებული ინიციატივა. ორივე ბიზნესი ადგილობრივ საარსებო წყაროებზე და ეკონომიკურ გაძლიერებაზე ევროკავშირის გავლენას ასახავს.
ელჩი შეხვდა სპეციალური საჭიროების მქონე ბავშვებს და მონაწილეობა მიიღო ახალციხის ახალი „თანასწორობის კუთხის“ გახსნაში; ეს არის ინიციატივა, რომელსაც მხარს უჭერს ევროკავშირი და ხელმძღვანელობს გაეროს სქესობრივი და რეპროდუქციული ჯანმრთელობის სააგენტო (UNFPA) ადამიანის უფლებების, თანასწორობისა და ახალგაზრდების მონაწილეობის ხელშეწყობის მიზნით.

ვიზიტის არსებითი ნაწილი იყო ევროკავშირის ახალი საინფორმაციო პუნქტის გახსნა, რომელიც დემოკრატ მესხთა კავშირმა საქართველოსთვის REACT პროგრამის ფარგლებში დააარსა. საინფორმაციო პუნქტი იქნება სამოქალაქო ჰაბი, რომელიც ადგილობრივ თემს ინფორმაციით, ტრენინგებისა და სამოქალაქო ჩართულობის შესაძლებლობებით უზრუნველყოფს.
