Within the EU ENPARD-supported project “Promoting a New Rural Development Approach in Akhalkalaki”, Akhalkalaki LAG in partnership with Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), are launching a grants competition aiming to overcome the social challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and improving the well-being of local communities.
The grants competition starts on September 18 and will end on September 30 at 17:00.
The current grant competition will support initiatives that will focus on the following areas:
Initiatives should be connected to the Akhalkalaki municipality.
Grant funds will be available to support only successful project applications. The minimum amount of funding that can be applied for is 1,000.00 GEL and the maximum is 150,000.00 GEL. It should also be noted that the full grant budget is GEL 150,000. It is expected that there will be cash co‐financing contribution from the applicant of at least 10%.
The applications can only be submitted by local and/or national government organizations that must meet the following criteria:

Department of Rural Development and Vocational Education of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (DRDVE of GIPA) in partnership with Mercy Corps, Elva Community Engagement and West Cork Development Partnership is implementing the Promoting a New Rural Development Approach in Akhalkalaki. The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 179.5 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second and third phases of ENPARD focus on creating economic opportunities for rural populations that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at: www.enpard.ge.
